Peggy (Margaret) and Danny VanDevender opened Landscape Design of Goldsboro, Inc. on February 2, 1980. Realizing a need for quality plant material, they began the Nursery Division (in their back yard!) just a few years later. Soon followed the Irrigation Division in 1984. The business has grown to include production of over 350 acres of nursery crops. Peggy and Danny continue to play active roles in the day-to-day business.

  • February 1, 1980 - the first day in the history of the company

  • 1982 – nursery division opened (in the back yard!)

  • 1984 – Danny obtained credentials as an NC Registered Landscape Contractor

  • 1984 – irrigation division opened

  • 1987 – office and nursery relocated to Arrington Bridge Road, Goldsboro, NC

  • 1988 -- nursery division obtained credentials as an NCDA certified nursery

  • 1996 – flooding during Hurricane Fran resulted in a moderate loss

  • 1999 – flooding during Hurricane Floyd resulted in a substantial loss        

  • 2000 – office and container nursery moved out of the flood plain to current location at 380 Washington Street, Pikeville, NC  27863 

  • 2009 – Danny obtained credentials as an NC Licensed Irrigation Contractor

  • 2012 - Danny became Energy Saving Landscape Certified

  • 2013 - Landscape Design awarded NCNLA's Excellence in Landscape Distinction Award for the Wayne County Veterans Memorial Installation

  • 2015 - Danny and Peggy (Margaret) obtained NC Landscape Contractors Licenses.

  • 2015 - Landscape Design of Goldsboro, Inc obtained NC Landscape Contractors License.
